Chemsex and overdose

Chemsex is a term used to describe when individuals engaging in sexual activity use drugs to enhance their experience. In the United Kingdom, the most common drugs associated with chemsex are crystal meth, mephedrone (also known as meow meow), GHB and GBL.

Chemsex can be very dangerous as it increases the chances of an overdose. Overdosing occurs when a person takes too much of a drug, resulting in physical and psychological symptoms such as vomiting, confusion, rapid heart rate, and even loss of consciousness. In severe cases, an overdose can be deadly.

Chemsex drugs can also be addictive, so even if an individual has a successful experience, they may find themselves wanting to do it again for the same feelings of pleasure. This can lead to forms of dependency and further health risks such as impaired judgement, memory loss and even psychosis.

If you or someone you know is engaging in chemsex, it’s important to understand the risks and to take steps to reduce them. This includes using drugs in a safe and supervised setting, avoiding mixing drugs, and having access to an overdose antidote such as naloxone. It is also important to seek help if you are struggling with addiction.
