Chemsex slang
Chemsex (or “party and play” as it is sometimes referred to) is a slang term for sexual activity that occurs while high on drugs, usually methamphetamine, GHB, and/or crystal meth. It is often linked to the LGBTQ community and is considered a dangerous form of substance use. Chemsex is typically associated with specific locations, such as bathhouses or nightclubs. The term was coined in the early 2000s and has become increasingly popular since then.
Chemsex can involve several types of activities, including group sex, one-on-one sex, and drug use. Many people engage in chemsex in order to escape from the everyday stresses of life and to feel more connected to their partners. This form of substance use is often seen as a way to heighten sexual pleasure and reduce inhibitions.
However, chemsex is a dangerous form of substance use and can lead to serious physical and mental health issues, such as an increased risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, as well as mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Those who engage in chemsex are also at risk of developing an addiction to the drugs they use.
Those who engage in chemsex are strongly advised to take precautions, such as using condoms and other forms of protection, and to seek help if they are having difficulties with their substance use.
